once abandoned right off woodward ave, detroit michigan. the hecker-smiley mansion built in 1892. french renaissance chateauesque (inspired by chateau de chenonceau, loire valley, france). 49-room mansion. bathroom count: 11. fireplace count: 13. next door neighbor: Domino’s Pizza.
‘next door neighbour: Domino’s Pizza’ – made me laugh! and brought my rosy-tinted nostalgia trip down to earth! Great photo, live the tones.
thank you! yes, times keep changing
*Doh! that’s… ‘love the tones’ CC
thanks so much!
I cannot imagine the cost to renovate this grand house. But I’m glad that someone did. Nice shot.
me either, but its quite grand…I didn’t see it in person unfortunately… but i did check it out online and the woodworking is just amazing not to mention the stained glass work….so many of these old places just rotting away in detroit
wow, so many options to hear up by the fireplace after taking a bath, and have some pizza of course 🙂
hah! yes indeed…which turret do you wanna watch tv in tonight? i’ll be right back i’m going to get a pizza…can you imagine?
maybe they’ve got a direct wire to order pizza 😀
awesome
Ideal location, then 🙂

Beautiful house. It’s a shame they planted Domino’s Pizza beside it.
Mmmmmmmmm. Pizza!
